Capydose vs Shotsy: choose the workflow you need

Capydose suits an iPhone routine built around a local health log and shareable reports. Shotsy is worth considering for free basic tracking and iCloud continuity. Here is what those differences mean.

When Capydose is a relevant Shotsy alternative

Consider Capydose when you want a local iPhone health log, a choice of ten interface languages, and dose/symptom records you can review and export. Its capybara companion adds a friendly visual presence to the routine. The reason to switch should be a workflow you prefer, not an assumption that another tracker cannot handle your medication.

The storage choice has a real cost: Capydose does not offer account sync or a restorable in-app backup. A PDF or CSV preserves readable information outside the app, but cannot rebuild the database after deletion or device loss. If cloud continuity is a priority, evaluate Shotsy's iCloud workflow before switching.

When staying with Shotsy may make sense

If its free core features already cover your needs, a paid alternative may add little value. Its App Store listing documents Apple Health imports for weight, calories, protein and water, as well as multiple medication schedules. Those are useful requirements to test explicitly when comparing apps. See the documented workflow

A real subscription concern, in context

In a September 15, 2026 review of version 3.3.8, littlelegsLB gave Shotsy three stars and said the upgraded plan cost more than they wanted to pay, despite previously liking the app. This is one person's budget assessment. Shotsy still documents free core tracking; the review does not establish that all users must subscribe. Read Shotsy reviews; Apple review feed.

These are selected individual experiences, not a representative sample or a reliability test. A review describes its listed app version; a later update may change the experience. Read the latest reviews and test the features that matter to you.

Switch without losing the context you need

  1. Review and save the records you need from your current app. Open the saved report to confirm that dates and units are readable.
  2. Keep the original copy. Capydose does not advertise a Shotsy import or a way to restore another app's export.
  3. Set up the current prescribed schedule and verify your entries. An app switch is not a reason to change your treatment.
  4. Check which app will send reminders to avoid duplicate notifications. Cancel an unwanted store subscription separately; deleting an app does not cancel billing.

Tracking apps organize records. They do not establish that a medicine caused a symptom, measure blood medication levels, or tell you to change a dose. Follow the plan from your healthcare professional.
